Killbear Provincial Park, July 16 to 18, 2004

I had a blast this past weekend!
We went camping in Killbear Provincial Park on Georgian Bay near Parry Sound. There are lots of rattlesnakes in Killbear park, and of course, my people were quite worried about me coming across a rattlesnake. I told them not to worry and that I'd keep an eye out for them, but of course, they worry anyway.
As it happened, I saw no rattlesnakes.

We spent most of each day in the water - it's funny watching the people in the water, they think it's so cold! We even jumped off some high rocks into the Bay - I was jumping off a rock that was about 6 feet above the water. I could tell that lots of people were quite surprised (and impressed) to see a dog jumping off rocks with their kids.
There is a great beach at Killbear where I was able to run around off leash with the other dogs. It was fun for a while, but I mostly stayed with my people, because that was more fun. We swam and played fetch and catch and lay in the sunshine.

The trails at Killbear were not very exciting, and I wasn't allowed to be off the leash because of the rattlesnakes.
We did find one trail where we climbed down the rocks to the Bay, and that was cool, because I got to go swimming in there too. I like rock climbing!

I was very tired and sore when we got home on sunday night - but after some rest and some aspirin (and some liver treats) I'm good as new again.

That's all for now,
E.W.

July 5, 2004

This weekend, my Grandma and Craig and Sunny came up - we all had a great time, Sunny sat in my little pool with me, and we played around a lot. Our people were really busy working in the house, so we didn't get to have many adventures, but I had fun with Sunny - I miss her a lot when she goes. Grandma says Sunny misses me too. This is a picture of us together at Grandma's house:

Today we had a great time! It was a vacation day for my people, so we went hiking at Hilton Falls conservation area. This is a beautiful area, with a fabulous waterfall, and lots of trails and caves to check out. We walked for about 6km today, thinking it would rain on us the whole time, but we finished the walk with no rain.

This is me at the falls:

This is a great spot to visit, and we had a great time. Lucky for me, I don't have to stay on leash for the whole hike. We all have a better time when I'm off leash. Don and Sonia say I'm better behaved when I'm off leash, but that's just because they don't walk as fast as I do! I'm always careful on the trails though, I pay attention to when they need me to come back or stop. Hiking is one of my favourite things - I've been doing it since I was a young pup. (4 months old!) They say that some people have a problem with dogs being off leash. I have to disagree with them - I'm a very careful dog - and usually I leave people alone (unless they happen to have pockets full of carrots!) I think it's great when we meet other dogs off leash, and we can play and wrestle. I stick close to my people, and they are always picking up after me - I do get a kick out of that :)

I'd like to ask all those people out there to have a little faith in us dogs - we're not all terrible. If you get to know us, you might even like some of us. I'll watch out for you on the trails, if you watch out for me.

Over and out,
E.Dog

My Grandma's Coming!

My Grandma is coming up this weekend, and bringing her dog Sunny! I can't wait, every time I see her she sneaks me extra treats!
Yesterday was Canada day - and there were lots of loud noises at night - but I went swimming, so it was a good day.
I think this weekend I get to go hiking with Sunny, I don't know where we'll go, but I'm sure we'll have fun. I'll post an updated entry maybe even with some pictures.

And, by the way, thanks Uncle Jeremy for your note :) We'll get hiking/biking soon!

That's all for now,

E-Dog
